A new Quilt for me
Operation Embrace quilts - on their way

I have just completed a new quilt for myself and will put it on my bed for the rest of the summer after Tuesday Nights show and tell at our group quilt meeting.

This is from a tutorial by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company, she recently posted this great tutorial using layer cakes, one plain (I used up some yardage that I cut into 10inch squares) and one from a designer (I used this one called Summer Breeze, cant remember who designed it at the moment)  I also used a Jelly Roll from the same fabric line for the borders, I made fan blocks for the corners and cut curvy edges, something I have not done in a long time.
These blocks started out being an hour glass basic blocks, then re cut and shuffled to create these beautiful blocks. Check out her site for the full tutorial for more information. I quilted it with a charming all over design from Anne Bright on my longarm machine.

Also recently completed, a quilt from the same source but these started out being pinwheel blocks before being re cut and shuffled into these Churn Dash blocks, alternating the color to make light and dark alternating blocks, these were made from my reproduction collection, and I added this charming striped fabric in the center and used the same fabric in the outer border, just a different part of the stripe.
These quilts are all just so "Darling" (As Jenny always says) It has been quilted with a combination of designs from Anne Bright and One Song.

Operation Embrace update
We have just completed 100 quilts for Operation Embrace and have sent some of them on their way. This weekend some will be given out to about 30 families that are being hosted by Operation Embrace, unfortunately we will not be there but I look forward to seeing some pictures of this event soon and will post them here for all to see. I did not manage to take pictures of all the quilts before they were packed up in boxes of 10's but hopefully Operation Embrace will take picture of them being received.
A very big thank you to the quilters from the first Baptist Church in Boerne Texas for sending us so many tops with backs and my friends on the international Jewish Quilters list who send me fabrics and quilt tops, we would not have managed to reach our goal without you.

Carol, my partner and friend, you have, as always excelled yourself in the beautiful work you do for the backings and completion of these quilts, you so lovingly give of your time to assisting me on these charity quilt projects, as always it is greatly appreciated.
Have a good and safe weekend to all,

Thats all for now folks
till next time
Take care
Love
